AI Assistant

The AI Assistant lets you ask about your organization in plain language and get back real, interactive results — not just text. Open it from the magic-wand in the header (on desktop, press Ctrl/⌘ + K; on mobile, tap the wand icon) — both take you to the AI page.

Bring your own key. The assistant runs on your own Anthropic API key, so inference is billed to your Anthropic account — not your Seedling plan. Your key is stored encrypted and never shown again.

Set it up

  1. Get an API key at console.anthropic.com → API Keys.
  2. In Seedling, open Settings → Advanced → AI Assistant.
  3. Paste your key (starts with sk-ant-) and click Save key.

What it can do

Ask a question and the assistant pulls real data and renders it as Seedling components:

  • Tables — "show my overdue invoices", "list my customers", "team members" → a sortable table (click a column header to sort) with a View link to each record.
  • Stat cards — "how much am I owed?", "invoice totals by status" → KPI cards.
  • Quick actions — rows can offer contextual actions (e.g. mark a task complete) right there in the results.

It reads across tasks, projects, customers, invoices, expenses, and your calendar.

Making changes

The assistant can also do things — create and update tasks, projects, customers, and calendar events — right from the chat. Two safeguards always apply:

  • Your permissions carry over. The assistant can only do what you are allowed to do in this organization. If you can't create tasks, neither can it.
  • Deletes ask first. Destructive actions appear as a button that opens a confirmation pop-up before anything happens.
Gated by SafeNode. Every change runs through SafeNode — it may complete, be held for approval in your review queue, or be blocked by policy (you'll get a trace id). By default, deletes are blocked until you allow them in your SafeNode policy. Invoices and expenses are read-only in the assistant — create or update those in the Invoices section.

Privacy & cost

  • Only data your account can already see is used to answer.
  • Usage is billed to your Anthropic account; set spend limits in the Anthropic console.
  • Remove the key anytime from Settings → Advanced → AI Assistant to switch the assistant off.
